Ex-Blues stopper in frame for coaching role

Former Chelsea defender Albert Ferrer could become the new coach of Vitesse Arnhem, according to reports in the Dutch media. Theo Bos was sacked as coach at the Eredivisie club last week following a disappointing start to the campaign. Georgian owner Merab Jordania, who took over the club at the end of August, is currently searching for a new manager to succeed the Dutchman. Ferrer is reportedly a favourite for the job, despite having no first-team coaching experience. The 40-year-old former Spain international enjoyed a successful career on the pitch, establishing himself at Barcelona before moving to Stamford Bridge in 1998, where he ended his playing days. Vitesse are looking to turn around their lacklustre start to the season, having collected just eight points in 10 games to sit third bottom of the standings.
