Promising midfielder Markus Mendler has agreed a professional contract with Bundesliga outfit Nurnberg. The 17-year-old joined the club back in 2008 as a youth player and only made his league debut two weeks ago in the defeat against St Pauli. Head coach Dieter Hecking has talked up the talented German, who has now been rewarded with a deal up until June 2014. Hecking told the club's official website: "Markus Mendler has signed a professional contract as we feel he has been working extremely hard to earn this opportunity. "I am sure he will feature in the Bundesliga in the future. "We are of the opinion that Markus has shown us he is a true talent from his time with our youth team and we are sure he will have a career at the highest level of German football. "He has looked great of late and has impressed us immensely."
