Tykes cancel striker deal

Teenage striker Jamil Adam has left Barnsley after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

Adam leaves after making just three substitute appearances

Teenage striker Jamil Adam has left Barnsley after his contract at Oakwell was cancelled by mutual consent. Adam made just three substitute appearances during his Tykes career, but had not featured for Mark Robins' side since last April. The Republic of Ireland Under 19 international has now been allowed to look for another club after failing to make an impact in Robins' plans. The forward made his first-team debut for the Tykes as a 17-year-old when stepping off the bench in the FA Cup defeat at West Ham in January 2009 and also appeared as a sub against Reading and Swansea in the Championship last season.
