Midfielder expected to pen contract extension at Stade Gerland

Lyon boss Claude Puel is confident Jeremy Toulalan will soon be signing a new long-term deal at the club. The France international is currently contracted until 2012, but Lyon are keen to extend that agreement. Discussions regarding fresh terms were due to be held at the start of the season, but Toulalan delayed them while he struggled for form. He has, however, now sat down with the club and is close to committing his future to the Ligue 1 giants. On those talks, Puel said: "Everything is going smoothly. It is almost sorted."

Negotiations

The Lyon coach has also confirmed that discussions are set to be opened with Argentine midfielder Cesar Delgado, who is set to become a free agent at the end of the season. "We are waiting for Delgado's agent to enter negotiations," added Puel. "If we can meet with him, we have something to propose. "Despite his injuries, 'Chelito' is an important player in this group."
