Defender to stay until 2014; Dede will leave in the summer
Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has signed a contract extension with the Bundesliga leaders until 2014.
The 22-year-old has emerged as a star in Jurgen Klopp's young team and had been linked with a move to the Premier League.
But the centre-back has followed Marcel Schmelzer in committing himself to Dortmund, who currently lead the Bundesliga by nine points.
"We have, in Mats, a very successful footballer who plays a significant role in our long-term planning and we have taken into account his sporting development," said Dortmund director of sport Michael Zorc.
Hummels has won three caps for Germany, with the most recent coming in February's 1-1 draw with Italy.
Meanwhile, Brazilian full-back Dede, 32, has confirmed he is to leave Dortmund when his contract expires at the end of the season.
He told
Deutsche Presseagentur: "It is a fact that I am not getting a new contract at Borussia Dortmund.
"This is a blow and it hurts me a lot, since I always planned to retire from the game at Borussia Dortmund. Leaving the club will be very tough for me this summer."
