Keeper says he could remain at Rennes beyond the summer
Rennes goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez insists that speculation linking him with a move to Aston Villa is pure fabrication.
The 30-year-old shot-stopper has been the subject of reports suggesting he turned down a move to Villa during the January transfer window.
Douchez is out of contract in the summer but denies that he will move to the Premier League club, indicating there is a chance he will remain at Rennes.
He told France Football: "Aston Villa? It was pure fabrication, a real stupidity that forced Gerard Houllier to deny.
"Let's say there is a 20 per cent chance I could stay at Rennes.
"I will be a free agent next summer and I want to take time to have no regrets. I was sure to leave, now it is less sure."
Douchez moved to Rennes in 2008 having enjoyed previous spells with Le Havre, Chateauroux and Toulouse.
