Hoffenheim lose defender to knee problem

Hoffenheim defender Matthias Jaissle could miss the rest of the season after suffering a fresh knee injury. The former Germany Under 21 international has been plagued by knee problems over the past couple of years, having struggled to recover from cruciate ligament damage sustained in 2009. He has now been laid low once again, with general manager Ernst Tanner confirming he will be out of action until mid-May. Tanner told Sportinformationsdienst: "Matthias Jaissle has sustained a knee injury during training today. He will be out for up to six weeks." Hoffenheim play their final Bundesliga match of the season against Wolfsburg on 14th May so there is a small chance Jaissle could figure again this term. However, it is likely that Jaissle will be told to focus on getting back fit for the start of the 2011/12 campaign.
