Belgian hitman agrees club record deal with Club Brugge

Highly-rated striker Bjorn Vleminckx will depart NEC Nijmegen in the summer for Belgian giants Club Brugge. The 25-year-old, who is the Eredivisie's current top scorer with 18 goals, will make the switch for £3.3million - a club record deal for NEC. Belgium international Vleminckx, who arrived at De Goffert from native club KV Mechelen in 2009, has agreed a five-year deal at Brugge. NEC technical director Carlos Aalbers said: "In our current financial situation we only can be happy about this. "We have said before we won't let him leave that easy and now with this record breaking fee that didn't happen." Vleminckx was linked with a move to England earlier this year, when NEC claimed to have turned down a transfer deadline day bid from a Premier League club. Blackburn, Bolton and Fulham were all thought to be interested in his signature, but reports in Holland suggested West Ham were the outfit to have their offer rebuffed.

Deal

Meanwhile, Groningen left-back Frederik Stenman will also join Brugge at the end of the season on a free transfer. The 27-year-old Sweden international, who arrived at Groningen from Bayer Leverkusen in 2007, has penned a three-year deal with the Belgian club. Stenman told Groningen's official website: "For me it is a new challenge. "The Belgian league could have a less charisma, but Club Brugge has a budget which is £10million higher than Groningen. "I am a happy person but it's also difficult to say good bye. FC Groningen has given me much the last four years."
