Midfielder hoping to make comeback before season is over

Ipswich Town midfielder Alan Quinn believes that his long-term future lies away from Portman Road after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The former Republic of Ireland international has not featured for Ipswich in over a year due to a groin injury. However, with eight games of the Championship season left to go, the 31-year-old is desperate to make his first-team comeback with his contract set to expire in the summer. "I've had a terrible year with the injuries and I'm just hoping to get back fit and get as much game time as I can before the end of the season, whether that be in the reserves or even a first-team game or two," said Quinn.

Difficult

"I'm out of contract in the summer too, so getting myself back up to speed and my name out there again would be great because I really want to find a new club and get back to enjoying my football again. "I should be back in a week or so in terms of full training, so it will just be a case of trying to get my match fitness back again because obviously I've not played a lot of football this year. "It has been difficult for the gaffer because he hasn't had a chance to see me play since he came in, so I doubt they will offer me a new contract and I'm not confident about getting any good news from them on that front. "I'm just hoping to get a game or two in before the end of the season and see what happens in terms of Ipswich offering me something." With the former Sheffield United midfielder's season destroyed by injury, Quinn is looking forward to playing football again irrespective of which division it is in. He added: "This injury has been the first in my career that has kept me out for so long, so it has been a frustrating time, but hopefully I'm over the worst now and I can concentrate on getting back playing again. "I'm hoping to be playing for another few years yet, whether it be Championship or even dropping down to League One because I just want to be enjoying my football again. "I've missed it and I've always enjoyed playing football, so my main aim is to just get back playing again."
