Lyon coach determined to stay - and confirms Delgado offer

Claude Puel insists he will remain Lyon coach despite being linked with the Sevilla job. The 49-year-old signed a four-year contract with Lyon in 2008 but has come under criticism for failing to recapture the Ligue 1 title. This season the French side trail league leaders Lille by six points with seven games left, and it has been reported that Puel is set to make a summer exit, with Sevilla said to be interested. But the former Monaco and Lille boss not only claimed there has been no contact with the Spanish side, but that he intends to stay at the Stade Gerland. "There is nothing to comment on," he told L'Equipe.

Focused

"I am only focused on the team's last few matches. My present is at Lyon. My future is at Lyon too." Indeed, Puel is planning for next season and confirmed that Argentinian forward Cesar Delgado has been offered a new deal. The 29-year-old, nicknamed 'El Chelito', is in his fourth season with Lyon but is out of contract in the summer and Puel expects there to be plenty of interest in Delgado despite an injury-hit campaign. "We are waiting for his answer," Puel added. "The club proposed a very good contract to 'El Chelito'. "But if he has a better offer somewhere else, it is up to him to make his choice."
