Veteran FC Twente striker Arnold Bruggink has called time on his 18-year playing career.
The Dutchman has made just six appearances for the Enschede club this season, taking a back seat to the likes of Bryan Ruiz and Luuk de Jong.
And Bruggink, in his second spell at Twente after starting his senior career with the club, feels he has gone as far as he can on the pitch.
"It's been fun, but I do not want to play another season like last season," he told
NUSport.
"I have not looked at the prospect of a new challenge at another club."
Decider
Bruggink's announcement followed Twente's defeat in Sunday's title decider against Ajax, with the Enschede club missing out on a second successive trophy.
The striker began his career with Twente from 1993-97 before moving to PSV Eindhoven, where he spent six seasons, lifting three league titles.
He also spent time at Mallorca, Heerenveen and Hannover before returning for a second stint at Twente last year.
Bruggink made two appearances for the Netherlands national side, both of which came in 2000.
