Defender offered SPL chance after leaving Macclesfield

Aberdeen have handed a trial to former Derby County and Macclesfield Town full-back Jason Beardsley. The 21-year-old started his career at Derby before joining Macclesfield on a one-year contract last summer after impressing on trial. However, Beardsley made just one appearance in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy for the Silkmen and also had a spell on loan at Conference North club Eastwood Town. He was released by Macclesfield at the end of the season and has now been offered the opportunity to earn a move to SPL side Aberdeen. Dons boss Craig Brown told the Evening Express: "Beardsley will come in on trial today, so that we can have a look at him over the next few days." Former Athletic Bilbao midfielder Andoitz Galdos is also due to undergo a trial at Pittodrie, while the Dons are also hoping to sign Manchester City goalkeeper David Gonzalez on loan. Aberdeen later confirmed that trials had also been handed to Cameroon striker Patrick Bengondo, 29, and goalkeeper Matthew Jones, 25, who came through the soccer college system in the United States before spending the last two seasons with Portuguese side Santa Clara.
