South African youngster tipped to make impact in Amsterdam
Ajax coach Frank de Boer has backed midfielder Thulani Serero to become a 'top player' following his arrival from Ajax Cape Town.
South Africa international Serero joined the Godenzonen earlier this week on a four-year deal, with the option for two extra seasons, after several trials in Amsterdam.
De Boer is backing the 21-year-old, a youth product at Cape Town who penned his first senior deal in 2008, to make an impact with the Eredivisie champions.
"He has made a very good impression," De Boer told
De Telegraaf.
"When you see how easily he moves, I think he can be a top player.
"He's very quiet and nice. It's always 'yes mister, ok mister'."
Former Ajax defender De Boer has no doubt that Serero's training in Cape Town will work in his favour.
"When Kanu and Finidi (George) came to Ajax during my time (as a player) they could not fit in well or shoot," he added.
"You can see Thulani was educated at Ajax Cape Town and has enjoyed it."
