Former France international Ousmane Dabo has announced his retirement due to 'physical issues'.
The 34-year-old, who enjoyed a 16-year career playing in some of Europe's top leagues, has decided to hang up his boots after a long battle against a succession of injuries.
Dabo, capped three times by his country, has been at New England Revolution since February but managed just three appearances for the MLS outfit.
"This is a very tough decision for me, and I'm frustrated to have not been able to help the Revolution more," he told

"I've had some physical issues that I haven't been able to heal, so I've decided to retire and release the club from my contract.

Dabo began his career with in his homeland with Rennes in 1995 before stints at Inter Milan, Parma, Atalanta, Monaco and two spells at Lazio.
He also spent two-and-a-half seasons at Manchester City between 2006 to 2008, although his time in England was overshadowed by an infamous incident with City team-mate Joey Barton in May 2007.
Dabo was hospitalised with multiple head injuries in the training-ground altercation, for which Barton received a suspended jail sentence.
