Striker baffled by 'ban' and plans to stay at Augsburg

Augsburg striker Michael Thurk has refused to agree to a contract cancellation at the newly-promoted Bundesliga club. The 35-year-old has 12 months left on his contract, but has been excluded from training and matches at Impuls Arena. Thurk is confused as to why he has suffered the 'ban', but ahead of Augsburg's first game of the new season against Freiburg on Saturday, he has no intention of quitting the club. He told sport1.de media: "I am not guilty of any misconduct. I am definitely extremely disappointed about this ban, simply because I have done nothing wrong. "I am unable to see or accept the reasons. I am of the opinion I would still be of use and help for the team. "This decision is hurting me, but what can I do? I have to deal with it. I am going to remain at the club. I will keep my fitness, I am waiting on my chance to return. "My family and I love it at Augsburg, I have no intention to move on."
