Agent urges Napoli to do more to extend player's contract

Christian Maggio is on the radar of rival clubs as he waits to see if he will be awarded a new deal at Napoli, according to the player's agent. Maggio, who can operate at right-back or in midfield, is under contract at the Stadio San Paolo until 2013 but is keen to agree an extension. He has been frustrated by how long it is taking to sort out fresh terms, and agent Massimo Briaschi admits there is a great deal of interest from elsewhere. Briaschi has called on Napoli to do more to keep hold of his client, insisting that Maggio does want to stay.

Happy

"For a marriage it takes two parts," he told calciomercato.it. "I've heard about a renewal for four months, but the last meeting with (Napoli sporting director, Riccardo) Bigon was almost a months ago. We are waiting for developments. "Christian has said many times he is very happy in Naples and if they want to talk to us we will be available. "The relationship with Napoli is fantastic, but it is normal that a player like him attracts interest from other clubs. "He's a professional sportsman and this is the secret of his continued performance."
