Former Feyenoord winger Andwele Slory has called time on his playing career at the age of 29 and will return home to Holland.
Slory had been plying his trade in the Australian A-League with Adelaide United but has decided to hang up his boots.
The winger, who also played for Excelsior in the Eredivisie, says he wants to return to the Netherlands to start a new business venture.
He told Adelaide United's
official website: "I want to thank Rini (Coolen, the club's coach), the club and particularly the football department because I have developed a really good relationship with them.
"I owe a lot to Rini for getting me to Australia because he wanted me to come here and help me to get my love of the game back.
Decision
"Now I just want to go a different way and I want to thank everyone at the club for giving me such a wonderful time and I look forward to coming back here one day to watch the team play.
"But nobody can change my mind and I've thought about it and it's been playing on my mind for a very long time, and I've made a decision to go back to my family and friends in Holland."
Slory first arrived in the Eredivisie with Excelsior in 2005 before joining Feyenoord two years later.
He spent three seasons with the Rotterdammers before leaving for Premier League side West Brom in 2010.
After a disappointing spell in England he spent time at Bulgarian club Levski Sofia before joining Adelaide earlier this year, making 11 appearances.
