Leicester City have announced Gelson Fernandes' season-long loan from St Etienne has been cancelled early by mutual consent.
The 25-year-old midfielder made 18 appearances for the Foxes this season, scoring one goal against Nottingham Forest.
A statement on the club's official website read: "He leaves with the best wishes of everyone at the football club for success in his future career."
The Switzerland international had been a favourite of former manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, who signed the player for Manchester City before bringing him to Leicester in the summer.
