Cologne have wrapped up a deal for Bochum striker Tae-Se Jong, with it hoped that he will bring added firepower to their survival bid.
The North Korea international has impressed during his time in the German second tier and has now been offered an opportunity to test himself at the highest level.
The 27-year-old first caught the eye at the 2010 World Cup, leading Bochum to swoop for his services.
A respectable return of 14 goals in 39 appearances saw him attract top flight interest, and Cologne have acted quickly to bring him on board.
Jong is expected to be thrown in at the deep end in his new surroundings, with Cologne requiring cover for the injured Lukas Podolski.
Decision
The Bundesliga outfit are confident their new recruit can handle that responsibility, with the club having considered numerous other options before plumping for the Korean hit-man.
"We have monitored 20 players and Tae-Se Jong is definitely what we are after," Cologne's general manager Volker Finke told
BILD.
"The manager (Stale Solbakken) made the decision on what type of striker he was looking for.
"Tae-Se Jong has shown on the biggest stages that he is capable of scoring a lot of goals."
