Former Germany international becomes new coach
Markus Babbel has been appointed the new Hoffenheim manager after a successful promotion campaign with Hertha Berlin last season.
The 39-year-old has signed a contract which will see him stay at the club until 2014 following the sacking of Holger Stanislawski on Thursday.
Stanislawski's tenure came to an abrupt end after Hoffenheim were dumped out of the German Cup in the quarter-finals with a shock defeat at the hands of second division outfit Greuther Furth.
Babbel started his coaching career with Stuttgart under Armin Veh before becoming the club's number one with a move to Hertha Berlin to follow in 2010.

The former Germany international steered Hertha Berlin back to the German top-flight last year following their relegation but was dismissed by the club over public discussions regarding his contract.
However, the former Bayern Munich centre-half will now turn his hand to Hoffenheim with sights on turning the club's season around with their recent record boasting only one win in their last 10 attempts.
Hoffenheim are currently eighth in the Bundesliga with 24 points giving them a seven-point advantage over the relegation zone but defeat in the cup was a big blow as they lost 1-0 to Greuther Furth.
Babbel will take to the dugout with immediate effect taking his place on the touchline for the encounter with Werder Bremen on Saturday.
