Striker sent off in win over Hertha Berlin
Cologne have appealed the red card issued to Lukas Podolski in Saturday's fiery 1-0 win over Hertha Berlin.
The German striker was dismissed in the 76th minute of the game after a confrontation with Levan Kobiashvili.
The automatic three-match ban would mean the 26-year-old would miss Cologne's upcoming fixtures against Hannover, Borussia Dortmund and FC Augsburg.
The club confirmed their appeal via their official website with a club spokesman adding: "The television pictures clearly show that there is no crime."
Cologne also confirmed they would not appeal the red card issued to Mato Jajalo just eight minutes after he came on as a substitute for a foul on Kobiashvili.
