Teenage goalkeeper depressed not to earn new contract

Cody Cropper plans to move on to 'bigger and better things' after being told he will not be getting a new contract at Ipswich. The US goalkeeper is approaching the end of his one-year deal at Portman Road and manager Paul Jewell has opted not to offer the 19-year-old fresh terms for next season. Cropper, an Academy graduate, has failed to make a senior appearance during a campaign in which Ipswich have used a total of four shot-stoppers. The teenager has appeared only as an unused substitute three times in what has been a disappointing campaign for his club. Cropper said on Twitter: "It's honestly so depressing but at the same time it's good to know that I can move on to bigger and better things." Jewell has already revealed he wants to establish a better plan of action for Ipswich ahead of next season and he wants to work closely with club owner Marcus Evans.
