Man Utd manager expresses admiration for France coach
Sir Alex Ferguson has heaped praise on his former defender, Laurent Blanc, who has turned around the fortunes of the France national side.
Blanc, who played under the United manager for two seasons, is being linked with some high profile jobs after winning the league with Bordeaux before taking the reigns of Les Bleus after the last World Cup.
The 46-year-old has refused to commit himself to his role beyond the end of Euro 2012, sparking speculation he could be heading to Chelsea.
And Ferguson clearly believes Blanc has the credentials to succeed as he told French radio station,
RMC Sport: "When Laurent played in Manchester he followed our training methods very carefully.
"That's very intelligent and obviously he has qualities as a coach because he has made Les Bleus a winning team again. As in 1998, it has established a balance between young and experienced players."
Evra
Blanc has also reintroduced United full-back Patrice Evra, following his five-match ban for his part in the mutiny at the 2010 World Cup, when France went on strike in protest at the coaching methods of coach Raymond Domenech.
Ferguson continued: "I spoke with Patrice at the time. He suffered greatly. Unfairly in my opinion.
"He was the spokesman for a group, and the views he expressed were not only his personal ones. But he was the one who got punished.
"He is very happy now though, particularly with Laurent as the coach."
