Jewell - Pair can move on

Paul Jewell believes it is time Jaime Peters moved on from Ipswich and he would not stand in the way of Nathan Ellington also leaving.

Fringe duo Peters and Ellington can leave Portman Road

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell believes it is time Jaime Peters moved on from Portman Road and he would also not stand in the way of Nathan Ellington leaving the club. Defender Peters has played just once for the Tractor Boys this term, while striker Ellington has not scored in three starts and 14 substitute appearances since his arrival last summer on a free transfer. Peters has spent time on loan at League One side Bournemouth this term and Jewell admits he has no room for him in his plans as he plots a promotion push next season. The Ipswich boss told Green'Un24: "Jaime has never got out of first base. He went on loan to Bournemouth and they didn't want to keep him. I know he is a bit of a fans' favourite but he hasn't had a look-in with me.

Exceptionally well

"Where would I play him? Carlos (Edwards) has done exceptionally well, Lee Martin and JET (Jay Emmanuel-Thomas) have done well. There is no room for him. I think it is about time Jaime moved on." Ellington, who played under Jewell at Wigan, has spoken publicly of his frustration and the Ipswich boss says he can also leave. Jewell added: "If he wants to move on, he can. I know Nathan from Wigan and if he looks at himself, he hasn't done it since he left Wigan. "This was a great opportunity for him. I see him every day in training and what he does in training, or what he doesn't do, influences my decision for a Saturday."
