Powell pleased to bring in former Rangers man after trial
Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of former Rangers player Salim Kerkar on a one-year contract following a successful trial.
Sky Sports revealed last month that Kerkar had joined up with Charlton for pre-season training after rejecting the transfer of his contract to the newco Rangers.
He featured in the Addicks' friendlies against Sporting Lisbon and Barnet, and showed enough to convince manager Chris Powell to hand him a contract for this season.
Powell told the club's
official website: "Salim has impressed while he's been with us, and we felt that he warranted a longer stay.
"I'm very pleased that he's agreed to join. He's predominantly a left-sider and can play at left-back and left wing, and I'm told that he has played up front as well, so he offers a variety of options.
"He adds to the squad and I look forward to him having a good time with us."
Kerkar joined Rangers in November 2010 after impressing on trial and he made 18 appearances during his time with the fallen Glasgow giants.
