Midfielder focused on Stoke but feels Rangers heartbreak
Jamie Ness is looking forward to the start of the new season after working hard over the summer and says it was an easy decision to join Stoke City following the liquidation of his old club Rangers.
The midfielder played just five times for Rangers last term due to injuries but has been fit enough to feature regularly for the Potters during pre-season.
He is in contention to play against Reading in the Premier League on Saturday and will be hoping his preparation stands him in good stead.
"Yes, I'm definitely ready after a really good pre-season," he told
The Sentinel.
"I haven't missed any training session yet, so it's been a real bonus for me.
"I've worked hard with the physios because I know how important a pre-season is for me and I'm delighted to have done that.
"If I can stay fit, then hopefully I can get in some good game time. It's probably the hardest pre-season I've known."
Difficult
Ness still has sympathy for the plight of Rangers but he is concentrating on the task ahead at Stoke and excited about playing in English football.
"It's obviously been very difficult circumstances with everything happening up north," he explained.
"I've been at the club since I was a youngster and it's heartbreaking what has happened to it.
"But now I have just got to focus on progressing as a footballer and I feel I'm in the best place to do that.
"The Premier League is the best league in the world and everyone wants to play here, so it was an easy decision to come here to Stoke.
"I've always had the confidence in my ability to play at the highest level and I believed I could do it at an early age."
