Sky Sports understands Crawley Town are closing in on the signing of former Arsenal youngster Cedric Evina.

Evina is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Charlton earlier this summer.

The 22-year-old came through the ranks at Arsenal, but did not make a senior appearance during his time at the Emirates.

Evina, who can play at left-back or the left side of midfield, moved to Oldham after leaving Arsenal in 2011 and was named the club's Young Player of the Year in his first season at the club.

The Cameroon-born player joined Charlton in the summer of 2011 and made 35 appearances during his time at The Valley.

A number of clubs have expressed an interest in signing Evina, but John Gregory's Crawley are in pole position to bring the player to the Broadfield Stadium.
