Crystal Palace midfielder Jose Campana is in Genoa to undergo a medical with Sampdoria ahead of a proposed move from Selhurst Park to the Serie A side, Sky sources understand.

The Spain U21 international joined Crystal Palace on a four-year contract from La Liga side Sevilla just 12 months ago.

Campana contributed two assists for Palace last year although injuries restricted the 21-year-old to just six appearances in the first half of last season.

His last appearance for Palace was in October’s 4-1 home defeat to Fulham and the midfielder joined Bundesliga outfit Nurnberg on loan in January, with the option of a permanent transfer.

But Nurnberg’s relegation from Germany’s top-flight put paid to their hopes of signing the Seville-born youngster, allowing Sampdoria to move in.

If Campana leaves Crystal Palace he will be the 12th player to depart Selhurst Park as manager Tony Pulis reshapes his squad ahead of his first full season in charge of the club.
