Sky Sports understands that defender Leon Legge is set to be allowed to leave Gillingham on loan.

Legge, who played in Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash with Colchester, has found himself down the pecking order in Peter Taylor's plans in recent weeks.

The 29-year-old has not been involved in the squad for the last two League One games against Sheffield United and Notts County.

Gillingham are thought to be willing to loan out Legge so that he can get some regular first-team action, and the news has alerted a number of League One and League Two clubs to his availability.

The former Brentford defender, who joined Gillingham in January 2013, has made over 65 appearances since his arrival and is a big fans' favourite at Priestfield.
