Celtic's Derk Boerrigter has had an operation on his injured knee and will miss two more months.

The Dutch winger has made just three appearances this season, the last of them coming in the Champions League qualifier against Maribor back in August.

And Celtic boss Ronny Deila expects to be without the 28-year-old until Christmas.

Deila said: "He's had some trouble with his knee, something that has been painful for some time.

"He's had an operation. He will be out out two months and then hopefully he will be totally fit and can improve as a player when he comes back."

Kris Commons is close to returning from the muscle strain which has kept him out of the last four games.

Saturday's home match agaisnt Inverness is a possibility, but Deila said: "It's an injury we don't want to take any chances with as he is an important player."
