Dundee have signed Irish striker Paul Heffernan from Scottish Championship side Hibernian.

Heffernan arrived at Easter Road 18 months ago following a successful spell with Kilmarnock, where he played a part in helping the club with the League Cup.

The Dark Blues have been busy in the current transfer window, having already brought in Bulgarian defender Kostadin Gadzhalov, Hibernian midfielder Alex Harris and Stephen McGinn from Sheffield United.

A statement from Dundee read: “The club are delighted to announce the signing of Paul Heffernan.

“An Irish striker who has experience of scoring goals in the Scottish top flight signs for the club after leaving Hibernian this evening.

“Paul is the fourth arrival of the January transfer window.”

Meanwhile, Dundee also confirmed 20-year-old midfielder Dylan Carreiro has returned to Arbroath on loan.

The Canada U20 international spent time at Gayfield earlier in the campaign.

A statement from Dundee read: “The club can confirm that Dylan Carreiro has rejoined Arbroath on loan.

“Dylan who made his first team debut for the club in the most recent Dundee derby, spent two months  on loan at Gayfield towards the end of last year, scoring five goals in eleven games.

“Canada under 20 international, Dylan joined Dundee in August.”
