Sky Bet Championship: Blackburn midfielder Jason Lowe may not play again this season

Jason Lowe may not play again this season after Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer confirmed he needs an operation to get to the root of his foot problem.

The versatile midfielder has been hampered by an injury he picked up in pre-season and missed a large chunk of the campaign during the Autumnal months before succumbing to the problem again in last week's win over Rotherham.

"He is going to be having an operation so that is a huge disappointment for the lad and for us as well," Bowyer revealed at his press conference on Thursday afternoon.

"Hopefully that will be a success and we can get him back. There is no rush, we'll put no timescale on it but if he was to make an appearance before the end of the season it would be very, very late on.

"We'll adopt a sensible approach to it and just make sure that he comes back fit and ready. If he does make anything before the end of the season it would be a massive bonus but there's no pressure on him for that.

"He played with it for seven weeks as he did it in the Stoke game pre-season and he just thought it was just an irritation. When we actually scanned it that was the first time that we found a fracture.

"Again, when he came back he never missed a training session with it, but that tells you a lot about the kid himself."
