Aberdeen have signed former Hearts midfielder Andrew Driver on a short-term deal, subject to international clearance.

Driver, who has impressed while training with the club over the last two weeks, has agreed a contract until the end of the season.

Dons manager Derek McInnes will hope the arrival of the 27-year-old can boost his squad as they attempt to overturn Celtic's six points lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

McInnes said: "I'm delighted to get Andy on board. Hopefully he will make the most of this opportunity we've given him.

"During his time with us I believe there has been enough to suggest that he can be a good addition to our squad."

Driver joined Hearts as a schoolboy and made 143 appearances before joining Houston Dynamo in February 2013, where he played 43 times before returning to Scotland in November last year.
