Former Arsenal defender Justin Hoyte is training with Burton.

Albion boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is looking for cover in the right-back position, where Phil Edwards plays, following the long-term injury suffered by Kelvin Maynard and he has handed a trial to Hoyte, who is without a club after being released by Millwall during the summer.

"We've got Justin Hoyte training with us at the moment," Hasselbaink told the Burton Mail.

"He has that experience at right-back but there is no deal done and nothing has been offered at the moment.

"He's just training with us, getting fit and seeing if he likes it here.

"He's only trained once. It was a good training session but we didn't do a lot as it was the day before the (Blackpool) game.

"We need cover for Phil which we don't really have now and he can also play left-back, which is quite handy.

"Losing Kelvin was a big blow, so we need some cover in that area if we can."

Hoyte, 30, came through the academy at Arsenal and maed over 50 appearances for the Premier League club before moving to Middlesbrough in 2008.

He spent six years on Teesside before spending last season with Millwall.
