Carlisle winger Patrick Brough has signed a new contract with the Sky Bet League 2 club.

Brough, 19, is a graduate of the Cumbrians' youth team and earned a first professional deal last year.

Having lost two of their other brightest prospects, Kyle Dempsey and Brad Potts, in the summer, Carlisle will be pleased to have tied Brough down until 2017.

Manager Keith Curle told the club's official website: "Patrick is a really hard worker and we've seen over the last year some of what he can do.

"We think there's more to come and this gives him the chance to get his head down and continue his development. He's got a lot of good attributes and we're pleased for all concerned that we've got this done."

Brough added: "I'm obviously delighted that this is done. To play for my local club is superb and I feel like I still have a lot more to show and learn.

"This means I can settle into the work the gaffer wants me to do, without having to think about my immediate future, and I can make sure I keep progressing so that I'm pushing for a starting place as much as I can.

"We're playing a different style of football this season and I think everyone is enjoying it. The gaffer wants us to entertain and that suits everybody. It feels like the wins are coming, particularly if we keep playing the way we are."
