Fulham have approached Lyon about signing their defender Bakary Kone, according to Sky sources.
The Whites want a new centre-back and are exploring their options after making a bid for Nottingham Forest's Michael Mancienne on Thursday.
it is understood Forest are discussing Fulham's bid internally and, in the meantime, the west London club are looking at what else is possible before the transfer deadline.
Fulham have signed Bolton's Tim Ream but are still looking for another centre-back after being priced out of deals for Brighton's Lewis Dunk and Brentford's James Tarkowski.
Kone is a 27-year-old Burkino Faso international who joined Lyon from Guinkamp in 2011.
He has 52 caps for his country and played 18 times for Lyon last season.
