Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has dismissed speculation that Xabi Alonso is planning on leaving the club.
The former Liverpool midfielder signed for the Bundesliga champions from Real Madrid on a two-year deal in 2014.
There has been speculation that the 34-year-old could leave when his contract expires next summer, with Anfield even mentioned among his potential destinations.
However, Rummenigge told Sport Bild that the Spaniard is "extremely happy" at Bayern and plans to extend his deal.
"In the near future we'll give the situation some concrete thought and hold talks with Xabi and his agent. There is no truth in the rumours that he's planning his departure", he said.
"He has led me to understand that he is interested in staying at Bayern. Xabi Alonso is a fine player who performs a very important role in our team."
Bayern boss Pep Guardiola is also out of contract next summer and it is not clear if he will remain with the club.
The Bavarians will be aiming to bounce back from their surprise defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach when they host Ingolstadt in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
