Ollie's predictions: 'Genius' Teddy Sheringham to lead Stevenage to victory
Thursday 7 January 2016 14:54, UK
Sky Sports' Ian Holloway predicts the outcomes of the nine clashes in the Football League on this FA Cup weekend......
Wigan v Gillingham, League One, Thursday 7.45pm, Sky Sports 5 HD
Wigan are defensively very strong at home, conceding just five goals there this season. However, Gillingham have a habit of proving me wrong and they can go top with a victory. It's a tough one, but home advantage should prove the difference.
OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-0 (Sky Bet odds 6/1)
Oldham v Millwall, League One, Saturday 3pm
Neil Harris has done really well at Millwall to turn the mentality from losing to winning. Although they're not in the best of form at the minute, it's a great time to be going to Oldham, who are six games without a win.
Steve Morison has got the club in his blood and veins. It's fantastic that he went back there and he's playing a level below his true ability. He could be the difference in this game. Away win.
OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-2 (Sky Bet odds 9/1)
Rochdale v Chesterfield, League One, Saturday 3pm
Rochdale were excellent in their 3-0 demolition job on high-flying Walsall. They pressed all over the pitch and created plenty of chances. Keith Hill is doing a brilliant job. What a great bloke he is - so down to earth. Everything is about how hard you work and your organisation. I love watching his teams play. Chesterfield won 7-1 last weekend, but Rochdale should be too strong.
OLLIE PREDICTS: 2-0 (Sky Bet odds 8/1)
Swindon v Southend, League One, Saturday 3pm
I was upset to read about Martin Ling's problems at Swindon. It's such a shame. He's a really nice bloke and was a great footballer - I wish him a speedy recovery. The Robins have lost their last two games without him.
Southend are flying under Phil Brown, who gave me one of the highlights of last season when he and Gareth Ainsworth stood together for the penalty shootout in the play-offs. To step up a level and be on the edge of play-offs is fantastic. Yes, they've had a bit of a blip but I think they'll bounce back with a clean sheet too. Dan Bentley is a superb goalkeeper - he's their biggest asset. To quote Brian Clough: "If you want to win anything, you've got to have a good goalkeeper, young man."
OLLIE PREDICTS: 0-2 (Sky Bet odds 9/1)
Blackpool v Port Vale, League One, Saturday 3pm
Come on the Pool! Those were special days in the sun for me and the town - it was an absolute honour be that club's manager. They had a horrendous start to the season because of the negativity around the place, but Neil McDonald has done a good job to settle things down. Hopefully the team will start to climb the league. They are capable as shown by their three straight wins, including at Wigan, last month.
OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-0 (Sky Bet odds 5/1)
Accrington Stanley v Notts County, League Two, Saturday 3pm
Notts County are still looking for a manager while Accrington are having a fine season. They're probably more suited to playing away than at home, but this game should be well within their capabilities.
It doesn't matter what level you play at it, if you're good enough then the right clubs will find you. That's the case with Josh Windass, who has been signed by Rangers. I would like to see him stay in this country, but Rangers is a massive club. Windass has got it all to play in that No 10 role. Hopefully, Accrington can keep him for the remainder of the season.
OLLIE PREDICTS: 2-1 (Sky Bet odds 9/1)
Barnet v Bristol Rovers, League Two, Saturday 3pm
Woooooosh! That's the mighty Gas flying up the table. Daryl Clarke. What a man. He's done a magnificent job. Thanks for giving me my club back. He has made everyone believe they can achieve anything. I'm proud of everyone there. Rovers are unbeaten in six games, winning four of their last five. Barnet won't know what's hit them. Away win.
OLLIE PREDICTS: 0-1 (Sky Bet odds 6/1)
Crawley v Cambridge, League Two, Saturday 3pm
Cambridge have the makings of a very good team, they've won three of their last five and beat table-topping Plymouth in their own back yard. Sorry Crawley, but Shaun Derry's a mate of mine and I'm a big fan of his work. He does everything right. I remember talking to him when he was without a club, he was trying to re-educate himself and that's a fantastic attitude. He's a champion. Barry Corr has plenty of experience up top, he's invaluable and should get the winning goal here.
OLLIE PREDICTS: 0-1 (Sky Bet odds 6/1)
Mansfield v Stevenage, League Two, Saturday 3pm
Stevenage were involved in a 3-3 draw with Exeter earlier this season and it remains the best game I watched in 2015. The quality of four of the six goals were out of this world - Stevenage manager Teddy Sheringham scored a few like those during his career. Fair play to Teddy for taking this job on and learning his trade.
You look at former great players like Zinedine Zidane getting the Real Madrid job and it makes my eyes pop out of my head. Just because he was a world-class player, should he automatically get a job at one of the biggest clubs on the planet? His reputation and honours have carried him through that management door. In comparison, Teddy, who was also a genius of a footballer, is starting down the leagues and earning his stripes. He'll lead his team to victory here.
OLLIE PREDICTS: 0-2 (Sky Bet odds 10/1)
