Galatasaray head coach Mustafa Denizli has resigned after just three months in charge.

The club have been unable to match their title-winning form of last season and currently sit fifth in the Turkish Super Lig, 16 points behind leaders and bitter rivals Fenerbahce.

In a brief statement the club said: "Mustafa Denizli has resigned as of March 1. We thank him for once again agreeing to take charge of the club in this period."

Denizli, 66, who was in his third spell in charge of the Istanbul side, is the second manager to leave Galatasaray this season after former coach Hamza Hamzaoglu had his contract terminated last November.
