Wolves have announced Paul Lambert as the club’s new head coach.
The Scot replaces Italian Walter Zenga, whose reign lasted just 87 days after he arrived at Molineux in the summer.
Lambert, 47, takes over a Wolves side who are 19th in the Championship table after a 3-2 loss to Derby County at Molineux on Saturday.
Sky sources understand Lambert has signed a one-year rolling contract and he will meet the players for the first time on Tuesday. It is also understood that money will be made available in January to strengthen should the club be considered to have a realistic chance of making the play-offs.
Wolves also announced the arrival of first-team coach Stuart Taylor, who will work alongside existing first-team coach Rob Edwards and the club's other backroom staff to support Lambert.
"We are delighted that Paul has agreed to become our new head coach," said Wolves director Jeff Shi.
"He arrives at Wolves with extensive managing experience at different levels, in recent years in the Premier League and the Championship.
"Myself and Kevin [Thelwell] have spent many hours with Paul during the lengthy interview process and have been very impressed with his thoughts on football and his vision for Wolves.
"Ourselves and Paul share the same vision and the same mission: to achieve promotion from the Championship as soon as possible, and then aim for a higher goal in the Premier League."
Lambert, whose best years as a player were spent with Celtic and Borussia Dortmund, made his name as a manager at Wycombe Wanderers, leading them to the League Cup semi-finals in 2007.
He moved to Colchester and then Norwich City, who he guided from League One to the Premier League with successive promotions.
In 2012, he moved to Aston Villa and he kept them in the top flight for two seasons before losing his job in February 2015.
He became Blackburn boss in November last year and kept them in the Championship, but he quit at the end of the season.
Lambert will be officially introduced to the media at a press conference at Molineux on Monday afternoon.
