The La Liga Santander Experience: Competition winners enjoy Sevilla v Real Madrid

When Stevan Jovetic scored Sevilla's injury-time winner at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium on Sunday night, it not only marked the end of Real Madrid's 40-game winning run, but proved the climax of an unforgettable weekend for some Sky Sports competition winners.
Adam Horrocks and Kate Mannion were selected from thousands of entrants of our La Liga Santander Experience contest and were whisked to Seville, alongside winners from Portugal and Germany, to sample a Spanish football match, VIP-style.
With Sevilla's top-of-the-table clash with Real Madrid scheduled for Sunday evening, there was plenty of time to sample the sights and culture of Andalusia's capital. La Liga provided a private tour of a historic and picturesque city; with countless orange trees enhancing its colour in the January sunshine.
The tour was punctuated by visits to some of the city's traditional restaurants, but La Liga's generosity extended beyond fine food and wine. Real Madrid shirts and scarves were dished out - with the caveat that these were to be left in the hotel rooms on Sunday.
That's because matchday was about understanding the passion of the home supporters; the Sevillistas.
The day started at a local 'pena'; a long-established supporters' club eager to give its international visitors a warm welcome. Sevilla shirts, scarves and badges were forced upon all present and there was genuine disappointment if anyone's glass ran empty.
However, there was one man in Seville on Sunday for whom the warmth and hospitality of the Sevillistas did not extend. Sergio Ramos was described by one fan as 'persona non grata'. Others used slightly less complimentary phrases.
The former Sevilla player has long been disliked in Andalusia, but his popularity nosedived further last Thursday when he took a cheeky Panenka penalty in a 3-3 Copa del Rey draw and celebrated by goading the Sevilla fans.
With the rematch in La Liga taking places just 72 hours later, Kate decided to keep quiet about the fact he was her favourite footballer!
She did, at least, get to see him at close quarters shortly before kick-off as La Liga's guests were invited to stand in the usually-out-of-bounds tunnel at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium to see the players arrive.
The competition-winners visited the trophy room, sat in the president's seats and visited the press conference area where they met legendary Sevilla players before going pitchside to watch the two teams warm-up.
La Liga's meticulous planning had delivered a very special experience for their guests, but they couldn't have predicted the remarkable 90 minutes of football that would cap off the weekend.
Sevilla's club anthem, Himno Centenario, rivals 'You'll Never Walk Alone' for its goosebump-generating power, but the roars turned to deafening jeers every time a certain Real Madrid defender touched the ball.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a controversial 69th-minute penalty to give Real the lead, but in the final five minutes it felt as though the La Liga Santander Experience had shifted from Seville to Hollywood.
First Sergio Ramos, the villain who had been decried across the city for 72 hours and booed mercilessly for 85 minutes, inadvertently headed the equaliser past his own goalkeeper to the delirious delight of 40,000 supporters.
And then debutant Jovetic, from the bench, curled in the winner with almost the final kick of the game to end Real's historic unbeaten run and put Sevilla firmly in the title race. Euphoric players and supporters celebrated as if they'd won a cup final.
Adam and Kate soon found themselves in the mixed zone for a chance to grab autographs and selfies with the players; Cristiano Ronaldo among those to stop and smile, despite his obvious disappointment at the result.
The last player to walk through? A thoroughly dignified Sergio Ramos. He spoke to every journalist, signed autographs for all who asked and posed for photos. Kate was ecstatic to get a photo and a wink from her favourite player.
"It's been an amazing experience and I've loved every minute of it," Adam said as he departed the stadium.
"La Liga have really looked after us. Meeting the players and getting pictures after the match was really nice and I would definitely say it's been a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
"This has definitely opened my eyes to the passion of Spanish football."
