The Africa Cup of Nations will be played in June and July from 2019.
The Confederation of African Football has voted to switch its biennial showpiece tournament from its traditional schedule in January and February.
The move aligns the competition with other major continental tournaments and means Premier League clubs will no longer have to release players mid-season.
Players from 12 Premier League clubs featured in this year's Africa Cup of Nations, Arsenal's Mohamed Elneny scoring in Egypt's final defeat to Cameroon.
