Kaka was bizarrely sent off for Orlando City FC despite a seemingly playful incident with former team-mate Aurelien Collin on Saturday night.
In injury time, with Orlando 3-1 down against New York Red Bulls, Kaka bizarrely grabbed Collin around the face from behind while laughing.
But when Collin turned to see the Brazilian chuckling, he himself laughed at Kaka, with the pair having played together at Orlando between 2015 and 2016.
The incident occurred after a melee between the two sets of players, and after the referee Jorge Gonzales went to the VAR for assistance, he sent Kaka off for the playful grab on Collin.
Kaka and his team-mates then surrounded Gonzalez, pleading innocence, while Collin also approached the ref to defend Kaka's stance.
Kaka had laid on the opener for Carlos Rivas in New Jersey, before goals from Leo Pereira, Bradley Wright-Phillips and Sean Davis gave the Red Bulls victory.
