The Football Association has launched an app which it hopes will help revolutionise grassroots football.
Over one million players will now be able to pay match fees, as well as fines for receiving yellow and red cards, via the FA Matchday app on their smartphones.
The FA has partnered with online payments system PayPal to enable the collection of potentially millions of pounds with greater ease.
Until now, the majority of fees and fines have been paid in cash or by cheque, meaning clubs are often having to chase late payments from players or parents.
The FA has estimated that a third of grassroots clubs reported up to 40 per cent of match fees are never collected at all.
Scott Murphy, who plays Combined Counties football for Epsom & Ewell as well as grassroots football, told TheFA.com: "It's brilliant now, because with my Sunday team, half of them turn up with no cash on them.
"People have always got an excuse for not being able to pay, so if you can pay for it like this, it means they've got no excuse."
