Exeter 1-2 Bradford: Grecians relegated from League One
Report and free match highlights from the Sky Bet League One match between Exeter City and Bradford City at St James Park; Matt Taylor's Grecians relegated after a four-season spell back in the third tier
Saturday 2 May 2026 19:21, UK
Bradford secured their place in the League One play-offs with a comfortable 2-1 win at Exeter which condemned the Grecians to relegation to League Two.
The Bantams can now look forward to a two-legged semi-final against Bolton after goals from Kayden Jackson and Antoni Sarcevic sealed the win.
For Exeter, it was a pretty dismal ending to their four-year stay in the third tier as they performed poorly in a must-win game. They would have stayed up with a win, with Leyton Orient only drawing at home to Burton.

Bradford took the game to Exeter from the outset and created several decent opportunities.
Their pressure finally told after 27 minutes when Jackson, making his 450th appearance for the club, was played through on goal by George Lapslie and rolled the ball under Jack Bycroft from 18 yards.
Exeter made a double change at the break and were instantly better, with Carlos Mendes Gomes firing straight at Sam Walker, but despite creating a few half chances, their fate was sealed after 80 minutes when Jack McMillan's poor back header sold Bycroft short and Sarcevic tapped the ball beyond the Exeter goalkeeper.
Josh Magennis pulled one back in stoppage time, flicking the ball home from Ryan Rydel's corner, but it was too little too late for the Grecians.

Exeter boss admits to 'gulf in class'
Exeter boss Matt Taylor:
"It was not the result we wanted and not the performance either. We were short today - and well short.
"There was a gulf in levels in terms of experience, know-how and game contribution. They looked bigger, faster and stronger than us in so many areas and it puts more pressure on our output and our output with the ball.
"That first half was as poor as we have been. Maybe it was the pressure of the situation, but we never made two or three passes all half, we never got a set-piece in the right place or got up the pitch and put them on the back foot.
"Everything we wanted from that first half we didn't do and the goal was a big blow in relation to that.
"Second half we were brighter and had a few moments, but then an honest mistake has cost us in terms of a second goal, which led to a very painful end.
"But, if I am honest, that first half felt as though the pressure was just a little bit too much."
