Carlisle chief eager to tie down in-form hit-man
Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott is hoping the club can extend in-form striker Vincent Pericard's stay until the end of the season.
This season the former France U21 international has returned to the type of form which saw him come through the ranks at Italian giants Juventus with some dazzling performances for the Cumbrians.
However, the 27-year-old's performances have not gone unnoticed, with a number of clubs interested in giving him a chance to play at a higher level once again.
Abbott understands that Pericard could easily play at a higher level, but told
skysports.com that whilst the striker is playing well and enjoying his football again, it would be better if he remained at Brunton Park.
"We are trying to keep him on board and we've had talks with Vincent's agent about the possibility of extending his deal here.
"We just want to let him concentrate on his football at the minute because he is really firing at the moment.
"He is enjoying working with us and he is lovely man aside of his football, so we are happy just to let him continue letting his football doing the talking.
"In the long-term he can play at a much higher level, but whilst he is happy both on and off the football field then hopefully we can continue that arrangement."
