Striker suffers ankle ligament and tendon damage in training
Wolves have suffered a big blow with the news that striker Andy Keogh has been ruled out for three months through injury.
The 23-year-old suffered ankle ligament and tendon damage in training on Thursday and is now set to undergo surgery.
The striker started the season as first-choice partner to record signing Kevin Doyle up front, making eight top-flight starts and scoring one goal, but he has since lost his place to the fit-again Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
Boss Mick McCarthy told the club's
official website: "Very sadly Andy won't be available for a while.
"He damaged his ankle and has got to have an operation and will be missing for up to 12 weeks.
Huge blow
"It's a huge blow for us because he's a great kid and he was devastated to hear that news.
"It just happened in training when he was running through and got clipped.
"He'd actually scored and jumped over Wayne (Hennessey) and just rocked his ankle when he landed."
But a positive for McCarthy is the return of fellow striker Chris Iwelumo to the squad, who had been missing for six weeks with a foot injury.
