Boss baffled by inability to hang on at Ewood Park
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez admits his side were not good enough as they lost out 2-1 to Blackburn on Wednesday.
The Latics fell behind to a Morten Gamst Pedersen strike before new boy Gary Caldwell levelled up the score, only for Niko Kalinic to head in a Rovers winner late on.
After scraping their way back into the game in the second half, Martinez was mystified to see his side gift a winner to the home team when they were in control of the game.
"Our first-half performance wasn't good enough. We weren't ourselves at all, and we couldn't understand what was needed," said a baffled Martinez.
"We made a few adjustments at half-time, and I was delighted with the reaction because we controlled the game and imposed ourselves more.
"You could feel after we scored we were going to be the team to win it, so to lose the game the way we did with a free header and lapse of concentration is very hard to take."
The defeat means Wigan are just two points above the relegation zone and face a real struggle to survive as they continue to show inconsistency under Martinez.
