Defender a World Cup doubt after hamstring injury

Joleon Lescott faces a race to be fit for the World Cup after being ruled out of Manchester City's final two games of the season. City boss Roberto Mancini confirmed on Tuesday that a hamstring injury has curtailed the England defender's domestic season. He will miss out as fifth-placed City take on fourth-placed Spurs on Wednesday and also at West Ham on Sunday as Mancini's side attempt to secure UEFA Champions League qualification. But, with Fabio Capello not due to name his World Cup squad until 1st June, the City boss hopes Lescott will be fit in time to make the finals in South Africa. He said: "Joleon will not play in the last two games. I hope Joleon will be fit for the World Cup. "He has another 14 days after the Premier League season finishes."
