Tottenham have reached a pre-contract agreement with SuperSport United for the transfer of Bongani Khumalo in January.
The South African defender, who played for his country at the World Cup, linked up with Spurs for a trial earlier this season.
Harry Redknapp later admitted that he had been impressed by the 23-year-old and was hopeful of pushing through a deal.
Khumalo is now set to complete his move to White Hart Lane when the transfer window reopens, subject to a work permit being granted.
His arrival will boost Redknapp's options at centre-back after a number of injuries to key personnel during the first half of the Premier League season.
